Senior lit fest

Hillcrest High School’s inaugural Hillcrest Lit Fest on Thursday, February 13, was a memorable event for juniors and seniors, giving them a unique opportunity to connect with a published author and celebrate their love of reading and writing.

Acclaimed Young Adult (YA) author Michelle Falkoff was the featured guest, sharing her journey as a writer, answering student questions, and signing books. Known for titles like Playlist for the Dead and Questions I Want to Ask You, Falkoff gave students insight into the writing and publishing process, offering advice and inspiration to aspiring writers.

Beyond the author talk, students participated in fun activities and giveaways, with many taking home signed copies of Falkoff’s books and other literary-themed prizes. The event provided an engaging, interactive experience that encouraged students to explore storytelling and creative expression.

Designed as a special opportunity for upperclassmen, the Hillcrest Lit Fest was a huge success, leaving students excited about books and the world of writing. The event highlighted the importance of literature in education and gave students a rare chance to meet and learn from a professional author in a personal setting.
