Hillcrest High School recently hosted its highly anticipated annual Hoops & Heroes charity basketball game, an evening that brought together students, staff, local community members, and firefighters from Country Club Hills and Hazel Crest for a spirited night of basketball and generosity.
The event, held at the Hillcrest High School gymnasium, featured friendly competitions, music, food from local vendors, and a shared mission to give back. All proceeds from the evening—totaling over $1,000—were donated to Project Fire Buddies, a nonprofit organization that supports children battling serious illnesses by building bonds with local firefighters.
"Hillcrest High School extends a heartfelt thank you to all who attended and contributed—especially our brave firefighters from Country Club Hills and Hazel Crest," said Heather Castaneda, an event organizer. "Together, we continue to make a difference, one game at a time."
In addition to the fundraising success, the event fostered a sense of unity and purpose, reminding attendees of the power of community and compassion.
