District 228 Excel Health & Wellness class hosted their annual Spring Market today. Their theme was "Cultivate Kindness." Students used upcycled materials for their projects as well as grew herbs & offered fresh floral arrangements! All items were specifically designed to grow and spread kindness. The Spring Market also offered TEP's handmade cards and ribbon flowers. Last week Ms. Trench, along with BHS Interact and student council members and Hillcrest H.S. Key Club members gathered gifts and assembled baskets to assist South Suburban PADS with their Mother's Day gifts. Baskets included self-care items like fuzzy socks, candles, and handmade soaps. Friday night BHS hosted the annual Excel Ball! Thank you to our Proud Leaders, Diversity Club Members, and Varsity Basketball players for helping make the event successful!
Congratulations to our 16 DECA students that qualified and competed at 2024 National #DECAICDC in California last week. BHS DECA earned 4 invitations to the exclusive Thrive Level leadership program where students worked with CEOs of fortune 500 companies on various skills. Leslie O, Giselle R, Antonio D, & Nayeli L completed the Thrive Program. BHS school store earned Gold Certified status in both retail & food operations. Raul C & Ava C competed in School Enterprise Food Operation competition while Marijane G & Jordy M competed in School Based Enterprise Retail Operation competition.
2 groups made it to Nationals for "Business Solutions": Dominique M & Destiny V finished 3rd at State & Yoseline D, Elina A, & Isabella E, finished 2nd . Both groups earned their tickets to Nationals and had a fantastic ride!
Lastly, Andrea O, Elizabeth R, & Michelle R. were the Illinois State CHAMPIONS in the Sales Project competition. At ICDC they competed against hundreds of other groups and finished in the top 20! "It was an amazing way to wrap up the DECA year. The students learn so much about professionalism, networking, adversity, & competing against the best of the best from around the world. Our Braves are already planning projects, sharpening skills, and looking forward to the International Competition in Disney World in 2025," said DECA Teacher Todd Strein #BremenBraves @illinoisdeca

BHS senior Susann C. organized the '24 BHS Charity Soccer Game and it was a huge success! She, along with her fellow classmates, raised over $2000 for Save the Children through ticket sales.
