Today, the Ecology Club took an exciting trip to the WRD! They got a full tour of the water treatment process, met with staff, and learned how sewage water is filtered and cleaned using bacteria. Students even had the chance to do some hands-on water testing! Such a great experience seeing science in action! #hillcresthawkpride

On Friday, we had the incredible opportunity to host the head of Life Goes On, Illinois' organ donation registry, for a talk with our sophomore Driver Education students. Life Goes On is a vital program through the Secretary of State’s office, and we were also joined by a cornea recipient, sharing their powerful story. A Special Visit to the Hawks! 🦅 Today, we were honored to welcome Dr. Evan Stubbs, father of administrator Mrs. Winefka, to visit with our students! Dr. Stubbs, a renowned scientist and professor at Loyola University and Hines VA in Maywood, Illinois, shared his wealth of knowledge and experiences with our students. Yesterday, 8 of our Junior Class leaders had the opportunity to visit the Teen Bridge Center in Orland Park for a leadership summit! 🌟 They engaged in thoughtful discussions with peers from other schools, demonstrating strong leadership and a willingness to learn. We couldn’t be prouder to see our Hawks stepping up, leading by example, and embracing new ideas. 🦅
The second half of the day was spent giving back to the community, as they sorted and prepared clothing for the neighboring thrift store. It was a day full of growth, leadership, and service — a true reflection of our students’ commitment to making a positive impact. 🙌💙

Last night, the Hillcrest Boys Basketball Program honored and retired the jersey of Jerel McNeal. Jerel was a key player on the 2005 Hillcrest State Championship team and went on to excel at Marquette University. After an impressive collegiate career, he took his talents to the NBA, playing for the Phoenix Suns. We are incredibly fortunate to have him now as a coach for our Boys Varsity team, inspiring the next generation of athletes. Hillcrest wrestler, Christiara Finley, is the IHSA 2A 140lb New Trier Sectional GIrls Champion. Finley will now compete for Hillcrest at the IHSA State Championships in Bloomington, Illinois beginning on February 28th. She is the only sectional champion to come out of D228 this season. #hillcresthawkpride
