Aspiring Writers Club, Sophomore Leadership, and Band partnered together to take students to this year's Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2) located at McCormick Place. Students were able to meet different artists, authors, and interact with famous voice actors. Some students learned that in the future, they too could open up a booth in the artist alley section of the convention. Other students got tips and ideas for upgrading their cosplay costumes and were eager to take pictures with other attendees who cosplayed. On the ride back from the convention, some students talked about their plans for next year's C2E2 and what they wanted to wear. #hillcresthawkpride
Hillcrest artists attended this year’s South Suburban conference and viewed the work of several neighboring high schools. Congratulations to Kaliyah Short, Jordon Ortiz, and Imari Southern on their Visual Arts Conference wins.
Imari and Jordin received Honorable Mention and Kaliyah received Best of School for her digital photography self portrait.

We are excited to announce that our Hawks Bakers took 2nd place at District #228 Cupcake Wars. The students worked really hard to master their lemon cupcake flavor and texture, and their cream cheese/buttercream frosting. The team of Bakers were led by Mrs. Sweeney! #hillcresthawkpride

Congratulations to our Muse winners Brendon Grant and Simone Herrera. Brandon won the Literature portion of the contest and Herrera won the Artistic portion of the content. Brendon took to the literary world by creating a short story named Dinner which captures the essence of making a meal while reflecting on the past in hopes that a meal can capture it again. Symone weaved a silent tale in the artistic realm by submitting a gallery with a captivating piece named “Eat Your Heart Out” which sends a silent message that viewers cannot look away from. #hillcresthawkpride
Last night, during the Board Meeting, Mr. Harrington along with his District #228 Advanced Building and Trades students were recognized for their amazing accomplishments this year. Students built mini-houses equipped with plumbing and electricity. They also learned how to tile, drywall, install a roof and so much more! We LOVED watching this process from start to finish and are so proud of our students!
Special thanks to Building and Trades students for making homemade wood cutting board for every board member. In addition, thank you to Mrs. Youngberg's Culinary Management students for baking delicious cookies for the event. WHAT AN AMAZING NIGHT!
